Ann Demeulemeester Autumn/Winter 2015
Ann Demeulemeester was the first fashion designer to capture my imagination. Following her departure from her eponymous house two years ago, it’s Sébastien Meunier who is now at the helm, but I still eagerly await the launch of each new collection.
Ann Demeulemeester was never one for trends. Her clothes simply evolved season after season, and while this approach may not have set the fashion industry alight, it endeared her to legions of fans. I was lucky enough to attend the designer’s autumn/winter catwalk show in Paris back in 2007, and it was great to be among Ann’s army of black clad devotees.
This latest collection has all the hallmarks of its founder. And while many of the looks nod to her penchant for draping and folding, it’s these sleek and simple pieces (above), offset with sheer panels and accessorised with leather, that I particularly love.
Perhaps this is Sébastien Meunier putting his own subtle stamp on the Demeulemeester style?
