The Tea House
This Tea House and library in Shanghai hide a stunning secret. Concrete walls twist up through the interior…
Local architects Archi-Union constructed the building at the back of their studio from the salvaged parts of the original warehouse’s collapsed roof.
I love the look of concrete as an interior material, although it can often appear quite souless and severe. But the contorted shapes here, coupled with the wrap around design of the building (did you notice that the balcony which projects from the first floor has been constructed around a mature tree?), give the space a more organic feel. Quite amazing!
