In the Blink of an Eye…

i-D Magazine / Stella Tennant

Stella Tennant

It seems hard to believe that last week i-D magazine celebrated its 35th anniversary. But to mark the occasion, photographer Alasdair McLellan shot not one, not two, but eighteen special covers!

Familiar faces and up and coming stars took part in the shoot, all sporting the magazine’s trade mark wink, and avid readers of this blog could probably guess that these three would be my favourites…

Hedi’s New Muse

Saint Laurent Pre Fall 2015 Campaign

A new season, and a new muse.  Introducing Helena Severin, Hedi Slimane’s new campaign star for Saint Laurent.

Given the designer’s track record for spotting the next new thing, expect the Austrian model, who’s already a favourite with industry insiders, to break into the big time very soon. And if she already looks familiar, you may remember her from one of my favourite shoots for Russh magazine here.

And what about the Saint Laurent new season clothes?  Well, black, leather and a touch of sparkle?  Enough said!

Trainer Trainee!

Trainer Collection

My Growing Trainer Collection

I am SO late to the party as far as trainer wearing is concerned. But there’s a good (read not so good) reason for my recent conversion to fashion’s sneaker trend.

I’m a boots girl, always have been.  But recently, my footwear of choice, or should I say my footwear choices, have started to play havoc with my feet.  So, thank goodness for trainers!

Previously, I’ve never felt fashion’s current favourite shoe to be ‘smart’ enough to work with the way I like to dress, but I’ve now found that as long as I stick to certain styles and team them with something such as a pair of tailored trousers, a white shirt or black blazer, I still feel like me…

So, for the time being at least, with comfort being the order of the day, I can now help my feet to heel without sacrificing my style. I may yet become a fan…

Pre Fall Collections 2015

When I read the “Revisit the ’70’s” tag line of the Wall Street Journal’s recent story showcasing the Pre Fall collections, I expected another, very familiar, round of flares and other ‘finery’ from the decade.   But this new season shoot delivers anything but old news.

Pre Fall Collections 2015

Individually, these pieces from Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Céline, to name just a few, may, as the Wall Street Journal says, nod to nostalgia, but Ludivine Poiblanc’s styling, captured by Lachlan Bailey, has given the clothes a very modern feel.

New Surroundings

Work Space As I’m sure my clients will be pleased to learn, I do actually practice what I preach, and edit my wardrobe on a regular basis.  For me, this isn’t just an essential task, but something I enjoy.  I like to make sure that my wardrobe is only ever filled with pieces that I love, which make me feel good, and spending an hour or two clearing out the clutter and reorganising my favourites, is extremely satisfying and rewarding.

And it was only a week or so ago, when I was going through a particular stressful period work wise, that I realised this approach to my wardrobe could probably be put to use elsewhere. It dawned on me that the ‘sterile’ space that had become my office wasn’t helping my mood at all, and I needed to surround myself with things that I love.

So, I invested in some coordinating stationery, a Diptyque candle in my favourite scent, newly discovered Grown Alchemist lip and hand creams and a small but beautiful house plant, and what a difference!

All artfully displayed around my workspace, my office is now a pleasure to be in, and for very little time, effort or expense.  And I now look forward to a day spent desk bound, whatever life may throw at me!

Sweet Caroline

Equipment Autumn/Winter 2015 Campaign

More images of French beauty Caroline de Maigret.  Here she stars in the campaign for Equipment’s forthcoming collection, bringing her brand of effortless cool to the luxury shirt maker.

Shot in Paris, the campaign was also styled by Caroline herself and these three black and white shots are my personal favourites.
