Maison Margiela / Resort 2016
The rights and wrongs of the return of John Galliano to fashion’s fold have been hotly debated, and will no doubt continue to divide opinion in certain quarters for some time to come. But since taking the helm at Maison Margiela, it’s the British designer’s clothes that are now creating the column inches.
His Resort 2016 collection for the house was a distinct departure from Autumn/Winter’s more ‘characterful’ offering, with simple clothes left (largely) to speak for themselves. For me, the devil is in the detail, and these three particular looks I’ve shown here tap into my love of texture, cut and sparkle.
But don’t be fooled into thinking that this collection, from a former fashion ‘enfant terrible’, seems rather ‘tame’. The clothes may seem rather simple, but there’s more to Resort 2016 at Maison Margiela than meets the eye…
John Galliano is another designer currently exploring the concept of gender blurring. And starring alongside Emilie Evander (above) in the label’s Resort 2016 look book is male model Roan Louch…
The perfect ruse to showcase an androgynous inspired collection or a stylish step too far? What do you think?
