This Instagram video edit of Vera Wang’s recent spring/summer 2016 show in New York is beautiful. I love how it captures the shimmer and shine against the black backdrop.

Not quite ‘fashion as art‘ perhaps, but I love how the clothes and accessories in each of these spaces have been displayed to create a point of interest…

Mademoiselle Privé: A Very Modern Retrospective

Mademoiselle PriveOn Monday, a friend and I visited ‘Mademoiselle Privé’ at London’s Saatchi Gallery. This much talked about exhibition, which celebrates the history of the Chanel brand and Coco Chanel’s legacy, is a very modern and interactive ‘retrospective’, with sights, sounds and even smells to enjoy!

It’s staged over a series of rooms, each one focusing on one of the signature elements of the brand, and to my surprise we were permitted to take photographs. So needless to say, we both took advantage of this rare opportunity and I thought I’d share some of my snaps with you here…

A recreation of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s first shop…

Mademoiselle Prive

A rotating metal cage housing a giant replica of Chanel’s diamond starburst necklace…

Mademoiselle Prive

Stills from a short film depicting a client fitting…

A huge monogrammed pail filled with Chanel’s classic woven metal chains…

Mademoiselle Prive

Taken in the very fragrant Chanel No 5 room, of course!

Mademoiselle Prive

Le Jardin Français – another olfactory experience.  Apparently, it was Coco’s visit to a maze that’s thought to have inspired the interlocking ‘C ‘design of the Chanel logo…

Mademoiselle Prive

Lily-Rose Depp photographed by Karl Lagerfeld wearing a diamond starburst headband…

Mademoiselle Prive

More pictures from The Diamond room.  The clothes on display are just as exquisite as the jewels…

Mademoiselle Prive

Taken in the Haute Couture room.  The clever use of the light poles really enhances the details of these beautifully delicate creations….

The exhibition is free and runs until 1st November. I would definitely recommend experiencing it for yourself if you are able to visit. What better way to spend a Monday morning!

Black and white photography is the perfect medium for capturing fashion’s design details…

And this shoot by Nick Dorey for Bon magazine’s autumn/winter 2015 issue, styled by Zara Zachrisson, showcases the season’s topical textures just perfectly.
