Why are designers leaving top fashion houses?

Over the past couple of weeks, Alexander Wang has bid farewell to Balenciaga, Raf Simons has announced his departure from Dior and most recently, Alber Elbaz’s fourteen year tenure at Lanvin came to an abrupt end.

I have read numerous articles subsequently, theorising about the reasons for what appears to be a mass exodus, with designer burnout, lack of complete creative control and executive differences being among the many and varied explanations cited.  And then I came across a panel discussion on the subject hosted by the Huffington Post’s Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani…
