Make-up Maestro

Of all the incredible images from the recent round of couture shows in Paris, it’s this beauty shot that I keep coming back to.  What has been widely considered a tribute to the late great David Bowie (although apparently this hasn’t actually been confirmed) was created by British make-up artist Pat McGrath for John Galliano’s Maison Margiela show.

The British make-up artist, who was awarded an MBE for her services to fashion and beauty in the 2014 New Year’s Honour’s List, has had no formal training, but is one of the most influential and respected make-up artists in the industry today.

She has a long history of working with John Galliano, under both his own label and while the designer was creative director at Dior, and she now creates the make-up looks for his Margiela collections.

Pat McGrath is known for her pioneering trends and techniques, and a scroll though her Instagram feed is a real source of wonder and inspiration.  Here are just a few of my favourites posts…
