Optical Illusion

Optical Illusion | MODE+MAISON

I’ve featured Lee Broom’s directional designs on my blog before, and these lights from his new Optical collection are the latest products to have captured my attention. But it’s not just his designs that set the British designer apart from his contemporaries, his clever and unconventional installations have a habit of making the headlines too.

In true Lee Broom style, his nineties inspired Optical lights were showcased at this month’s Milan design week in a somewhat surreal setting – remember last year’s Department Store?  One of his studio’s delivery vans was transformed into a travelling installation, or Salone Del Automobile, which started its journey in London before moving onto Milan, where it toured the city…

While deciding where I should exhibit I thought ‘what about everywhere?  My designs are often surreal and the idea behind the installation is to see something unexpected – a captivating optical illusion.
